What an amazing place. The service the food and the decor was just great. The attention to detail the drinks and the coffee wow. I loved it and would go back

The food was amazing! The shrimp and grits was my favorite - the grits were so creamy almost like mashed potatoes. The carrot soup was also very good and creamy. The salad was good and fresh but not too special to me. Lastly, the bread pudding was delicious. The basque cheesecake was good as well but I preferred the bread pudding. Inside is cute and cozy. Service is nice.

Saturday 530pm. Came in fresh off the boat, I mean plane. Christmas decorations on the building. Hostess said she could seat us if we could finish in an hour, when another party for the table would arrive. No problem. No drinks and no dessert for us. Superior ambience Very plush padded seats amid white tablecloths and white cloth napkins, with an overhead chandelier. The $12 starter gumbo had very zesty sauce covering well cooked chunks of chicken and andouille sausage. Among the very best gumbos I've tasted. The $25 jerk spiced pork tenderloin had bits of mango but was on the dry side, and definitely not spicy for a jerk dish. Also small in portion size. The $25 catfish was tender and flaky, covered with a thick layer of black eyed peas, beans, with just the right amount of tomato sauce mixed with honey. Wife thought it tasted like bbq sauce. Again small in portion size -5 oz. Took us a while to flag our waiter, Sterling, but got out of there at 6:24pm, with six minutes to spare before they booted us out for the next reservation.

My group came to Cafe Amelie for dinner and although we made a res for 4, they were flexible and able to seat the 5 of us. We sat in the courtyard, which was a cute area, although the heated lamps didn't really provide enough warmth and the flashing lights could be a bit distracting. For drinks, one of my friends ordered the special cocktail which was an eggnog. However, we learned that the beverage turned out to be non-alcoholic, which was deceptive due to its inclusion under the cocktail menu. I had the french 75 which met my expectations and my friends really enjoyed their drinks as well. For food we ordered the shrimp and grits, fusili a la vodka sauce, and cornmeal and parmesan stuffed agnolotti. The food was phenomenal! The shrimp and grits was so good and my friends really enjoyed what they got as well. Even though the menu is limited, the options are amazing, so I would definitely recommend Cafe Amelie!

Café Amelie is a wonderful, whimsical place with fantastic food! Their shrimp and grits are truly best in New Orleans and anywhere! They have some great cocktails, including Pimm's cup . Service was attentive and helpful with menu selections . The main dining area is gorgeous, but they have a great lighted courtyard to dine outside. Their desserts look delicious, but we were too full, too have something . Next time !

A friend of a friend recommended Cafe Amelie. It is a wonderful, cozy restaurant with a small but diverse food and drink menu. The shrimp and grits were the best that we had during our four day stay in New Orleans. The pasta was fresh, light, and perfectly seasoned. The drinks were light and refreshing (not overly sweet). The inside of the restaurant is cozy (less than a dozen tables), with a wonderful old world feel. Finally, the service was amazing, prompt and friendly. The only note: please call ahead for a reservation as the restaurant is small and packed!

1 million percent GET THE GUMBO!!!! The courtyard seating is super cute too. It was the perfect weather sitting out there. If you need to get one thing here.. get the gumbo. It's sooooooo good. I never liked gumbo before but this place you can tell it has been simmering for a while and the flavors are sooooo delicious!! Rose latte- comes with an edible rose. "So fun" inside joke w the waitress Gulf Shrimp and Grits- super flavorful Chicken and waffles with gravy on the side- a bit dry Watermelon feta salad- seasonal- super refreshing! Also I came back for dinner and tried the local Catfish- it was okay. I rather go for brunch Definitely recommend everyone coming here though. Get the Gumbo! I actually got the gumbo Togo and froze it to take it back from on my flight! So so yummy!

Wonderful dining experience! I highly recommend making a reservation and dining at this eclectic, cozy upscale restaurant. The staff welcomed us in and our waitress was very nice. She recommended a few dishes because we had a hard time deciding. We shared a few appetizers, entrees and desserts... Gumbo-slow cooked and delicious chicken and sausage gumbo Summer Squash Salad-loved this salad with sweet roasted squash, spiced seeds, golden raisins. arugula and goat cheese. It was a delicious combination of flavors and textures. Shrimp and Grits-this dish was amazing! Blackened shrimp with corn and the most flavorful grits. Local Carfish-really enjoyed this lightly crispy tender catfish served with black eyed peas and a smoked tomato butter. It was so good I wanted to lick the plate clean. Bread Pudding-one of the best bread puddings I've had! Cinnamon crust, cherries, caramel and whipped cream. The was delicious and decadent. I loved the soft bread pudding with the crispy edges. Chocolate Peanut Butter Semifreddo-can't go wrong with this combination! Outstanding dinner and one of our most memorable meals in New Orleans!

It was Halloween and We were at the area and just popped right in to have late lunch. The receptionist was a little overwhelmed and took a little while to sat us and others came in and then left. We were finally got seated. I love the decors and all the decorations for Halloween around the restaurant. We have water delivered by another server. Then we were able to order our drinks and food. Finally our food arrived. My hubby has muffuletta, it was ham, salami with olive salad in ciabatta and with a side green salad. It was very yummy! I have a broccoli cheddar quiche with a side green salad. The salad dressing is very refreshing and citrusy. And the ice is very yummy! All in all it was a nice and delicious food place to be!

Perhaps the laws of physics cease to exist on your stove but not here at Cafe Amelie! I started this fine solo dining experience with a bourbon cocktail and a rich bowl of gumbo. Gumbo arrived without delay. I asked politely to slow the experience and was given time to savor the remainder of my cocktail before my entree. No lie, the shrimp and grits paired with a glass of sancerre was a harmony that filled my soul and tummy. It rained so I had to forego the courtyard, but the All Saint's Day buzz , seated near the bar looking over the entire dining room was a consolation!
